Hello, Everyone. I'm an avid hiker and look forward to meeting other hikers.
Word of mouth
Locally, western NC. Even closer to home, I go to Crowders Mtn. fairly often.
Mostly hiking.
I do quite a bit of backpacking as well as dayhiking. I hike the Appalachian Trail southbound in '06, the John Muir Trail in '07, and am in the planning stages for '08's hike, probably in northern Europe. Does that make me skilled?

Hi Marta,
Thanks for the post. Yes I am a NOBO 08. My son and I did it together after he graduated from APP State. Trail names Daddy-O and Peacock. We blogged it on Trailjournals.c
om.
It sounds like you have gone beyond the A.T. now. My hat is off to you for doing it SOBO. I think that it would be a tougher hike since you start with the really hard part of the trail right off, not to mention the blackflies and mosquitos, yuch. Hope to meet you on a hike.
Rick
I'm getting really stoked about this trip! Couple of questions: 1. Where / when do we meet? 2. What aboutwater, will it be available somewhere, do we need to pack two days worth, will someone have filtration?
"Marta, I found the Packing List and have a few questions. What do you mean by Fuel and Fuel Bottle, Camp Water Carrier, and I have not used a hiking stick would it helpful?
Thank you, Annette"
Marta, thanks very much. I found the file and it really helped. One more question, please. Is this a dog friendly hike? I have a well behaved lab that I would like to bring along.
Marta, I RSVP'd for the novice hike. I haven't backpacked in a lot longer than I care to admit. What equipment/suppl
ies do I need for this hike?
Am i now included in the wilderness medicine training? my name has moved from the waiting list, and i noticed there had been a space. please contact me to advise what books i need asap - thx so much --email me at [masked]
hi marta - any chance of being included in the wilderness medicine class this month?
It was very informative doing the hike with you.
I was very impressed with the vast amount of knowledge and experiences you shared with us during last nights meeting.
A great presentation!!
You are certain a woman of many talents.
Because of your speech, I am planning my next trip to Hot Springs to find the Outfit's Store.
Marta,
Thanks for letting me borrow a backpack and sleep pad for the Beginners Backpack weekend. I had a great time and look forward to future trips. Thanks also for sharing your hard earned wisdom. You'll help newbies like myself make less mistakes!
